Ooni has healed Nigeria’s wound, says Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, for his  leadership style and his peace moves in the country.

The President spoke in Ile Ife, Osun State on Saturday during the grand finale of programmes to mark   the monarch’s first coronation anniversary.
Buhari, who was represented at the ceremony by the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, also eulogised the monarch for his passion for youth emancipation and his efforts to enhance development.
“We hope that in your many years on the throne, we will witness more advancement of the entire Yoruba land, Nigeria and everywhere we have Yorubas around the world. Many are celebrating you in Cuba, Brazil, America and other countries. We appreciate your contribution to our development.”The President said, “Kabiyesi Ooni has healed the wound in our country by bringing everybody together. We know that a lot has gone into this. It is not a matter of age but the fact that you are blessed by the Almighty God to do so.
In his speech, Oba Ogunwusi urged traditional rulers and wealthy individuals to assist the needy in view of the economic recession battling the country.
The Ooni stated that the job of catering for the masses and the development of Nigeria should not be left solely to the government, adding that everybody must be involved in making the country a better place.
He said, “We should collaborate with the government and stop the blame game. Let’s work towards youth emancipation. It is very important to know our roles as traditional rulers.”
Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, lauded the Ooni for extending partnership to the Igbo, urging him to intensify efforts at uniting the Yoruba and Igbo.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, urged the Ooni to sensitise indigenes of Ile Ife to the importance of security.
